Our Wasteful Ways ...
All over the world, people are buying more and more and throwing away more and more. n 2001, an average American's household waste was more than twice that of a European nd nearly seven times that produced by an Indian household. Australian's produce over 1.6 tonnes waste each year per person.
Disposal of rubbish causes air, water and land pollution which is harmful to our health, wildlife and the environment. We are using up the world's valuable natural resources and we need to conserve those resources and look for alternative sources of raw materials and power generation.
Ways to reduce waste:
Choose products with minimal packaging Buy sturdy household items and toys so they don't break Take your own bags to carry your shopping Donate usable items or give them away Ultimately buy and use less.
Toxic waste containing chemicals if not used or disposed of carefully may damage our health and the environment. Reducing the number of chemicals used in the home and in manufacturing processes will help to protect us and our environment.
Amazing Alternatives promotes products which use less packaging and where it exists we use biodegradable packaging. Our products have minimal packaging, we use recycled materials and packaging materials that can be recycled or composted.
Our Charter: Amazing Alternatives provides our customers with products that reduces waste and avoids damaging our health, wildlife and environment. Re-using things is an even better way of reducing waste than recycling. No energy or resources are consumed as when goods are recycled.
What can be reused:
Wash and use again 'disposable' cups and food containers Use the other side of sheets of paper Have broken items repaired rather than replacing them Refill printer ink cartridges Give away unwanted clothes, toys, books, furniture, tools ... anything that is still useable.
